January 8, 2018 – Part One

My Mom had to wake up really early this day – she still had no luggage so she took an Uber to a nearby Walmart just to buy some clothes/toiletries. She was back to OKW, dropped off her stuff, showered and changed into new clothes, and was still standing in our room before Luke and I were ready for the day haha.

Everyone actually had an early start today, and we all met up at Animal Kingdom. Luke and I had also bought custom t-shirts for everyone, and this was the day we asked them to wear them. Plus – Luke’s youngest sister Callie and her daughter, our five month old niece Isabella, had arrived in Disney that morning (they were living in Cancun, Mexico at the time). We were very excited to see them! Luke and I ended up spending very little time together on this day, so I’ll do my best to detail his day. We actually don’t have a single picture together from this entire day haha.

When we left our room, we had just missed the bus, we watched it drive past us. Luckily, Steph, Lauren and Ryan were on that bus – and the girls were wearing shirts that said “Bridesmaid” on them. They told the bus driver he had just drove past the Bride and Groom, so he actually stopped and let us on haha.

When we arrived at Animal Kingdom, Luke led everyone over through the second entrance at Rainforest Cafe, while I went with my Mom to get her Canadian resident park tickets activated. Once we were good to go, we entered my Mom’s first Disney park ever!

I was messaging a few people, and pretty much everyone was in Pandora – so that’s where Mom and I headed. It was looking as beautiful as ever!

We had set up Fastpasses at either Flight of Passage or Navi River Journey for everyone in our group – for some, this would be their only chance to see Animal Kingdom, so they had FOP. For the rest, we had another AK day planned for later in the week with FOP Fastpasses that day, so today was for Navi River (remember – this was back in Pandora’s early days, it wasn’t even a year old and you could only reserve a Fastpass for one or the other).

I was in the Navi River group on this day – and it was actually my first time riding it! It was…underwhelming. The Shaman animatronic is extremely impressive, and the ride itself is really pretty – but it feels short and lacking a “wow” factor like Flight of Passage has. I also can’t really remember who was on this with me – Mom for sure…maybe Ashley and Mike?

Luke had a FOP fastpass, but he actually ended up giving his MagicBand to his sister Callie so she could go on it – we hadn’t planned on her coming to AK after her super early morning flight (I think her flight left Cancun at 5am) and had booked some Epcot FP+ for her later in the day.

We all just hung around Pandora for a bit, taking pictures and enjoying the anticipation of the week ahead. Our entire group of invited guests (minus my cousin who lived in Florida) were now here, and it was only two more days until the wedding! We were also excited to see the baby – Luke and I had only met her once before this. She was so cute in her Minnie Mouse outfit <3

I took some pictures with my Sister-in-Law, Callie –

And also got a few with my Mom in the same spot –

We decided to leave Pandora, but we found a Photopass Photographer on our way out so of course we had to stop!

Of course I needed more pictures with my Momma –

I think this is actually the first time I’ve mentioned the custom buttons we had made for our wedding! You can see it pinned to Mom’s sweater in the picture above, but everyone received one. I had mine on my backpack most days. They were nothing fancy, but they were cute – and I ordered way too many and have an impressive stack of them at home to this day haha –

Now back to the Photopass Pictures – Luke got some with his family – from left to right, that’s his sister Callie, his sister Jill, Luke (of course), his mom Laura and his aunt Cathy –

Our plan was to meet up in Africa, we all had a Fastpass for the Safari together. We had told/messaged everyone a time to meet up, and pointed them in the general direction. Devin and Larissa, and Ashley and Mike stopped for Photopass pictures on the bridge leading into Africa , which is such a great spot for pictures!

January 7, 2018 – Part Four

I met up with Steph, Lauren and Ryan after they used their third Fastpass for Haunted Mansion, and we set off to see some of Magic Kingdom. I don’t have many pictures from this evening, but we did wave to some Country Bears as they passed by –

We just walked around the park, enjoying each other’s company. I hadn’t seen Steph and Lauren in a few years – they live on the other side of the country of me. They live in different provinces from each other, so they don’t even see each other very often (and actually – at this point Steph and Ryan were living in different provinces from each other). We spent quite awhile just taking in the ambiance of Magic Kingdom, walking around the different lands. At one point, we stopped at Peco’s Bills so they could grab a quick bite to eat – I don’t remember what was ordered, but I think all three of them shared one meal – we had a late reservation coming up and no one wanted to ruin their dinner. Eventually we decided to actually do more than just walk around.

The first Fastpass the three of them had earlier in the day was for Peter Pan’s Flight, but due to a flight delay they had missed their window. However, the ride just so happened to be down during part of their window, so their Fastpass had changed to an unlimited experience pass – which meant they could use it for any ride in MK they wanted to that day. They decided to stick to their original plan, and used it for Peter Pan (which still had a huge standby line). I didn’t have a Fastpass for it, so I told them to enjoy and I’d wait for them by the exit. During this time, my Mom had texted that she had finally arrived at Old Key West – without any luggage. It was lost, and the airline had no idea where it was.

I lost it. Here I was, standing alone by the exit to Peter Pan’s Flight bawling my head off – like I’m talking giant tears streaming down my face, sobbing, the whole nine yards. A concerned cast member came over and asked if I was ok – that poor man. I think he was expecting a generic I’m fine, or I’m just so happy to be here or I’m just overwhelmed. Yeah… that’s not what he got from me. In between sobs I told him my Mom had no luggage, my uncle was in a coma, I was getting married in 3 days, I was happy to see two of my best friends for the first time in 2+ years, and I had realized that morning I didn’t pack enough underwear for the trip (yup, I told this poor cast member that). He just looked at me with wide eyes, gave me a little pat on my shoulder, said “there there” while he backed away slowly haha. It’s been almost 4 years since this happened, but in the moment it was a lot to handle. I definitely needed that cry.

My friends gave me a hug when they got off, which helped a lot. I pulled myself together, and got onto the app. I was able to grab a Buzz Lightyear fastpass, and the window opened in 10 minutes. So off to Tomorrowland!

When we arrived, the ride was a walk-on – so we decided to enter the standby line first, and then circled around and used our Fastpass. We waved to animatronic Buzz, and Lauren and I got on together…and of course my gun didn’t work. I’m not amazing at Buzz, but I’m definitely not this bad! Luckily the gun did work the second time around haha.

Our on-ride photos for this make me laugh so much! I was looking super pleased with my broken gun, and my face was still all blotchy from crying, my hair was all disheveled from a busy day – and Lauren was living her best life haha. We have so many photos together over the years with Lauren giving me bunny ears – always “gettin’ me good!” And Ryan was so intense haha.

The castle was looking very pretty – I love the Christmas lights they put on it –

By this point, it was time for us to head out. We said good night to the park, and headed out to catch the monorail. While we were riding the monorail, we actually saw the Electrical Water Pageant, which was a really unique viewpoint. We exited the monorail at the Polynesian, where we met up with 9 others from our group – and the 13 of us had a great meal at ‘Ohana!

We all Uber’d back to our hotels and crashed – it was almost midnight by this point..

I also need to show this screenshot from Luke’s FitBit haha – he actually took this right after he finished his marathon – he had even more steps by the end of the day haha.

Fitbit Steps: 20,849

January 7, 2018 – Part Three

After reaching the Ticket and Transportation Center on the monorail, we got off. I asked the group if they wanted to catch the other monorail to get us to Magic Kingdom, or if they wanted to take the boat – group consensus was boat. This was something I’d never actually done, so I was looking forward to it. It was really busy, and had a huge line (which was a bit surprising since it was early afternoon by this point) – but we still got on the first boat that came by. It was my first time on the boat from the TTC – and I took zero photos. Oops.

We entered the park, and… I don’t remember what we did. I have terrible notes from this afternoon, and not many pictures. I think Laura and Cathy were hungry, and Jill went with them (I think they ended up eating at Tortuga Tavern?). I do have this picture of the Adventureland sign?

I do remember I had been texting my Dad, and he was on his way to MK to meet up with me. I seem to recall I found a bench close to the front of the park, and just sat there by myself people watching for quite awhile. It was nice, and sometimes you just need some alone time. Eventually I realized that Dad’s phone wasn’t receiving my texts, and I had no way of getting in touch with him to let him know where I was. As I was sitting there trying to figure out how I’d find him, I heard my name – I looked up and Lisa was standing there! She let me know that her and Trevor had ran into my Dad at the MK entrance (lucky bounce!).

It was close to time for the Festival of Fantasy Parade, so Main Street was getting pretty busy. We were able to weave our way along the sidewalk and reach the Hub. We walked past a few people holding giant foot-long hotdogs – and Lisa, Trevor and my Dad decided they wanted one too. So off to Casey’s Corner! Read about it here.

After everyone was full, we continued into the park. We decided to stop at the Enchanted Tiki Room, and the four of us went to see the show.

Earlier in the day, I had grabbed a Fastpass for Splash Mountain for a few of us – it was the last day to ride it, as it was going down for a refurbishment beginning in the morning. We were now in the window, so my Dad and I headed in that direction. I have no idea where Lisa and Trevor went after the Tiki Room – they might have come with to say hi to Luke’s family?

It’s probably a good thing there weren’t any children in our boat on Splash haha – my Dad was yelling a few obscenities as we made our way down the big hill hahaha. He was white-knuckling that bar in front of us, and told me I was so brave for putting my arms up haha. (Spoiler alert – at the end of the week he declared Splash Mountain his favourite ride so I guess he wasn’t that scared of it). Despite the look on Jill’s face, she also enjoyed it. Laura hates heights, so she wasn’t a huge fan – but I’m happy she tried it! Cathy had been on it before.

Around the exact same time, Larissa and Devin were over in Hollywood Studios braving the Tower of Terror. I have no idea if they made it to their other two Fastpasses, or exactly what they did after we split from them, but I do have this Photopass picture of them on the ride –

After Splash, we went for a snack at Aloha Isle. There was talk about going on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride, but the line was too long (??) so we headed over to Fantasyland so Cathy could go on the Carousel (apparently they are her favourite). I was a huge grump and refused to go on it with everyone – I think even my Dad might have even gone on it? I took zero pictures. The group decided to head back to OKW and take a bit of a break before our super later diner reservation, so they all headed out to catch a bus together. I have no idea if they went straight to the buses, or if they stopped along the way – it was probably for the best that they left, I don’t think I was the best company at that point. Sorry to those around me that evening!

I spent a few minutes alone, trying to shake the miserable mood I was in. I was texting my two bridesmaids, they had arrived today and after checking in to their room at OKW, they had come straight to Magic Kingdom. Their flight was a bit late, so they were later than they thought they’d be getting to the park and had missed their first fastpass – but they had made it in time for their Splash Mountain one –

In the very front is Lauren, who I met in 2007. She is one of the funniest people I know, and always makes me laugh – we’ve had some adventures over the years haha. She was one of the few who had been to Disney before, but it had been years prior – and she hadn’t stayed on property before. This trip renewed her love for Disney, and she actually booked another trip shortly after getting home – she went in 2019 with her Mom and one of her sisters, and had another trip booked for 2020 (which obviously she had to cancel due to the pandemic). She’s been asking me when my next trip to WDW is, so I know she’ll be joining us the next time we go 🙂

In the second row is Steph, who I met in 2006 during our freshman week in university. Beside her is her boyfriend at the time, Ryan (they are now married). Steph has always been the responsible, smart one of our friend group – but she was always willing to join us on our crazy shenanigans’! This was the first time to a Disney Park for both her and Ryan, and I’m sure they will join us again one day (when we take our children together)!

January 7, 2018 – Part Two

After Test Track, Laura and Cathy decided it was time for a coffee. They found a Joffrey’s stand close by and found a spot to sit down to enjoy. The other four of us – Jill, Devin, Larissa and I – went and jumped into the standby line for Mission Space: Green side.

After our trip to Space, we went and watched marathoners for awhile, cheering them on. We were predicting Luke to finish sometime between noon-1pm, so we still had time before he’d be making his way into Epcot, so we decided to grab some food and headed over to Sunshine Seasons. When we got down there, Cathy made a comment about Soarin’, and how it was one of her favourites from her previous trip years ago – I had intentionally not scheduled a Fastpass for that for anyone, as we had a special surprise planned involving that ride so I just made a nonchalant comment about the long wait time haha.

After checking out the menu, Laura and Cathy decided they weren’t hungry, and left to go wander around. The rest of us ate though – Larissa is a vegan and Sunshine Seasons had decent options for her, which is why I suggested it. You can read about my meal over here.

Once we finished eating, we noticed that Living With the Land was a walk-on. I knew that Larissa would love this, so I led the way over. Laura and Cathy had rejoined us, so all 6 of us went on this.

While we were riding, Luke texted me. He was unfortunately not going to finish the marathon, and been swept from the course around the 32km mark for not maintaining the minimum speed required. He was currently being loaded onto a bus which would take him to the finish line (just past Epcot). While training, he had a knee injury that set him back (he was actually diagnosed in 2021 with severe arthritis and a torn meniscus in his knee – which I’m sure dates back years), and he was sick in December which derailed his final month of training – so he knew this would be a possibility. However – he still ran 32km that morning! 32! I was so proud of him! There’s no way I could have accomplished something like that today.

The 6 of us set off to go meet him by the finish line. Once we exited Epcot we were basically walking just beside the actual race route, so we watched dozens of people in the final km of their full marathon. By this point all of the true athletes had long since finished, so these were just regular, everyday people accomplishing one of the greatest achievements – I always find it very motivational to be near the finish line of an event like this!

The walk was actually farther than I thought it was going to be – but there was no way I was about to complain while seeing all these people who were about to finish a full marathon!

Eventually we found the area just past the finish line, where Luke had been dropped off. Even though he didn’t finish, he still received the medal and the special marathon ears, and we made him pose while we all took pictures of him haha

Also – I can’t seem to find any of Luke’s Photopass pictures from the marathon, and now I’m questioning if I ever downloaded them – major fail on my part. I feel terrible if that’s the case… He didn’t really stop for any of the characters though because he felt like his pace was off right from the beginning, and he wanted to make it as far as possible, but there should have been photos of him actually running. The only picture he has on his phone is this one – Richard was out cheering on the racers so Luke stopped for a selfie. For those who don’t know, Richard was a long-time greeter at the Grand Floridian, and he was a very well-known man in the Disney Wedding community. He sadly passed away a few months after this trip, at the age of 92.

After congratulating Luke, we all split up. Luke went alone to catch a bus back to Old Key West so he could shower, eat and have a nap. Devin and Larissa headed back into Epcot, walked over to the International Gateway and exited the park. From there, they caught a boat over to Hollywood Studios (this was their only real option to see that park, so I had set up their fastpasses for that park). Laura, Cathy, Jill and I went in a different direction, and hopped on the monorail. It was time for us to park hop, and introduce Luke’s family to their second Disney park!

January 7, 2018 – Part Three

January 7, 2018 – Part One

I woke up briefly as Luke was getting ready at some insane hour (I think he was out the door by 4am to catch a bus?) – but I quickly went back to sleep after wishing him luck and telling him how proud I was of him.

I didn’t sleep too long though – my alarm went off and I was out the door around 8:30. At the bus stop, I met up with the three members of Luke’s family who had already arrived in Florida – his mom, Laura, sister Jill and Aunt Cathy. My Dad had decided he wanted to sleep in and hang around the resort for a bit this morning, so he did not join us at this time.

Introduction time! Laura, Jill and Cathy were all sharing a room at Old Key West from Saturday-Saturday (we had walked them through renting points). Laura had a 5-day park hopper ticket, while Jill and Cathy each had a 4-day hopper (they spent a day at Universal together to check out the Harry Potter sections). This was the first trip to a Disney Park for Laura and Jill – Cathy had been before but it was years ago when her now-adult son was still young. They had spent time the day before checking out Disney Springs, so I was excited to take them into their first park of the trip!

Our destination this morning was Epcot! After getting through security, we stopped at guest services to activate their Canadian discount tickets. I was messaging two of Luke’s friends who had arrived the day before as well, and were also meeting us at Epcot – and then we realized we were standing less than 10 feet apart haha. They were also in line to activate their tickets – when you purchased tickets using the Canadian discount, you had to show proof of citizenship at guest services in order to activate them.

Time for another introduction! Devin is one of Luke’s long-time friends, and a groomsman in the wedding party. He and his wife, Larissa, had booked a room at All Star Music from Saturday-Thursday using the discounted room block we had set up through our Disney wedding planner (it was a crazy good deal – like $101/night or something!). Neither of them had ever been to a Disney Park before, but they were very excited about it!

After everyone was all set, we entered the park!

After stopping for a few pictures, we headed off for our first Fastpass of the day – Spaceship Earth! Devin and Larissa had their Fastpasses set for Hollywood Studios later in the day, so they were just going to use the standby line – but when we arrived there wasn’t a wait at all! We decided to drop our Fastpass and just use the regular line so we could all enter the ride together. Devin and Larissa sat together, Jill and Cathy sat together and I went with Laura (my Mother-in-Law). I don’t think we planned on making similar faces, but this turned out hilarious haha –

After we exited, I checked the app and encouraged Devin and Larissa to run over to Test Track – the standby time was listed as 20 minutes which is excellent for that ride, so they took my advice and started heading over there. Jill, Cathy, Laura and I actually had a Fastpass for Test Track, so we went in that direction as well, but we did stop to cheer on some of the marathon runners making their way through the park (I love being in Epcot on marathon day – we were there in 2016 and it’s what inspired Luke to even attempt a full marathon).

The Jamitors were also out this morning, so we stopped to enjoy them for a few minutes –

And then it was Test Track time! I think Laura and Cathy had the same reservations as my Dad the day before as they approached the ride, but they both ended up really enjoying themselves. Since there were four of us, they split us into two pairs for the design portion of the queue line. Laura and Cathy designed one car, and I let Jill take control of the second one (I’ve been on this ride a few times, I wanted to let the first-timers truly enjoy it!). Here’s the creations haha –

And our on-ride photo – I’m the one in the front with the sunglasses, Luke’s sister Jill is directly beside me, Luke’s mom Laura is directly behind me and Luke’s aunt Cathy is in the middle seat in the back row. The other two were single riders.

We hung out in the post-ride area and waited for Devin and Larissa to exit (we had beat them, thanks Fastpass (and also RIP Fastpass). We didn’t have to wait long until we were all back together again.

I had everyone from our group linked to me as Friends and Family through the Disney account. I also had the super fancy Annual Pass for this trip that was valid in both Disneyland and WDW, so I was able to download the Photopass pictures for every single person – Devin and Larissa are in the front row of this Test Track car, facing away from the camera haha –

January 6, 2018 – Part Two

We decided to stop in Walt Disney Presents, where they have rare artifacts from Walt’s life as well as models of some of the new construction. We hung out in there for a bit, my dad loves museums and things like that, so he found it all really interesting.

I eventually hurried him along, since we had to get to our third and final Fastpass of the day – reserved seating for the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. Luke and I had started watching this on our first trip back in 2016, but left early to get to a dining reservation, so we were looking forward to actually watching the full thing.

As we made our way towards the Indiana Jones show, the Star Wars stage show was starting, so we stopped to watch a few minutes of that before making our way over.

We entered the Fastpass line for the stage show, and ended up with great seats only a few rows from the front. We all really enjoyed this show – even myself, who had not seen the original Indiana Jones movie…(don’t worry, I’ve watched it since this trip).

Once the show ended, we were close to our reservation time, so we took our time and walked the short distance to 50’s Prime Time.

While we were watching the Indiana Jones show, Luke was receiving text messages that his mom, sister and aunt had arrived at Old Key West and were planning on heading over to Disney Springs. Once we finished eating, we all left Hollywood Studios. Luke went back to OKW, then took the boat to the Springs to meet up with them. Apparently while we were eating at 50’s Prime Time, Jill, Laura and Cathy were eating at Paradiso 37. (I’ll introduce the three of them a little later).

Dad and I went in a different direction, and hopped on a boat to Epcot. We entered through the International Gateway, and spent a bit of time looking around the World Showcase.

January 6, 2018 – Part One

Introduction: My Dad, Perry. This was his first Disney trip, and he was only here because it was my wedding. I was really hoping I’d be able to make him fall in love with the Disney Parks and possibly return with us again one day – but you’ll need to keep reading my report to find out if that will ever happen haha! He hasn’t seen many Disney movies recently, and when I asked him about Star Wars the response was “I think I saw the original ones when they were new?”. So yeah, not a big movie guy. He also did zero research on Walt Disney World, and allowed me to plan everything for him – so he was going into this entire week blindly. It was going to be exciting! Also – I live on the other side of the country from my dad, so I only get to see him once a year or so – I was looking forward to spending time with him.

I woke up excited! My dad was already here, I was going to take him to his first Disney Park today, and most of Luke’s family would be arriving today (along with quite a few of our friends).

The first order of business for the day was breakfast. We had made a reservation at Olivia’s, so we didn’t have far to go.

After eating, we caught the bus to Hollywood Studios. My dad had no idea what Disney was going to be like, he had never been and didn’t really have a huge desire to ever go, but he told me he didn’t care where I got married, he would be there. I think he was already impressed though, “so, these buses are free and they take you right to the park?”.

I told him to smile, and for some reason, this is the face he gave me…

Once we arrived at Hollywood Studios, we had to stop at the ticket gate to get Dad’s park tickets activated. He had purchased a 5 day hopper with the Canadian discount (or, rather, he gave me his credit card and I purchased a 5 day hopper for him haha), so you must show your passport before you can use them.

Once his tickets were active, we entered the park. I think he was expecting a typical amusement park, so I could see him quickly taking everything in. We were already in our first Fastpass window, so we went straight to Star Tours – my Dad’s first Disney ride ever! I was so excited to see what he would think of the rides, and I was just hoping he wouldn’t get motion sickness and refuse to go on anything else for the rest of the week.

We took our time walking through the queue line, it’s one of my favourites but you miss so much when you’re in the Fastpass line since you can typically walk at a normal pace. We stopped a few times, letting others go past us so we could point out different things to my Dad. He took pictures to show his Star Wars-obsessed great-nephews when he got home, he was impressed by the animatronics.

I glanced over at my Dad a few times during the ride and the look on his face was priceless- he had the biggest, goofiest grin. His first Disney ride experience was a hit, I was so relieved! When we got off the ride, his only comment was “whoa!”

I stopped in the gift shop to take a picture of Jedi Stitch 🙂

We were close to being in our window for the next fastpass, but we knew we had a bit of time so we headed over to MuppetVision 3D.

The posted wait time said 15 minutes, but it was less than 5 before we were making our way into the auditorium to find a seat. I made my Dad take a selfie with me and our pink 3D glasses while we waited for the show to start haha.

My dad loved this show. He thought the 3D was awesome, he was laughing… it hadn’t taken long for Disney to win his approval!

We headed over to our second fastpass, Toy Story Midway Mania. I think this area is so cute, I’m really excited to see Toy Story Land (I obviously wrote this part of the trip report awhile ago haha – I’ve been to TSL a few times now, and it’s adorable!)

They had already shut off the main queue line at this point, and both stand-by and Fastpass people were being held outside for the most part. This was because they were reconfiguring the entrance and the queue line to open up into Toy Story Land.

Luke insisted I sit with my Dad, and he went alone. I think it’s just because I beat him every single time on this ride haha.

I did beat my Dad by a decent margin, although his accuracy was better than mine (and I’ve been on this many times before).

January 4, 2018 – Part One

If you’ve ever competed in a runDisney event, you know that your alarm goes off way too early! We got up and got ready – I was still in pain from the night before (stupid me missing a step on the stairs, such a *facepalm*).

We caught the bus and arrived at the starting place of the race (in a parking lot by Epcot). We made our way through security and headed towards our corral. I think I was in a higher corral than Luke, but you are allowed to move back (you just can’t move forward to a higher corral) so I dropped back to his. We took a selfie while we waited.

I was hurting, and knew I wouldn’t be able to go much faster than a walk – even that was painful with each step. Luke assured me to not worry about it, to not hurt myself even more by pushing too hard and we’d figure it out. Eventually our corral had the countdown, and we were off! The first characters we came upon were Chip and Dale – I needed the break so we hopped in line. I handed over my phone to get a photo with that, but also scanned my Magicband to get the photos taken by Photopass – what a difference! The cast members using your phone don’t zoom or anything – it’s not difficult to tell which photo is which –

Our costumes were Luke’s idea – he wanted to be Ursula haha. They also looked much better when we tried them at home, we weren’t expecting it to be so cold! I had on a tight tank top as a base layer, then a hoody, then an athletic tshirt on top of my hoody (the black Nike one you can see), then my Ariel top (which is absolutely a bathing suit top haha) then my jacket. My plan was also to wear plain black capri-length yoga pants with the Ariel bathing suit bottoms on top of those so you could see them better, but I needed the full length pants (luckily I had packed a few extra pairs, and these ones kind of worked with our costume theme). Luke’s purple face paint was actually some anti-redness makeup stuff layered on thick – much easier on the skin than Halloween paint haha.

We kept going, and Photopass captured these – you can see the pain on my face in a few of these pictures….

I love the rare characters that are out during the runDisney events – we didn’t stop for all of the characters this day, but we did get to meet Jiminy Cricket, vacation Genie and Horace Horsecollar (in addition to Chip & Dale), as well as some Vikings in Norway. Here are the photos taken with my phone –

And here are the Photopass pictures taken by the professionals –

Here are a few more Photopass pictures (we definitely got our money’s worth during this race!)

It was so cold, I was wearing Luke’s mittens which were way too big for me haha.

Eventually, we made our way across the finish line (we did not make good time haha) – and received our medals and snack boxes. We stopped for one final Photopass photo before heading back to the buses to take us back to OKW.

By the time we got back to OKW, I was so sore and we were both exhausted so we decided to cancel the fastpasses we had made for Magic Kingdom, and instead had hot showers and a much-needed nap.

May 5, 2019 – Part Two

After saying goodbye, Luke and I headed back over to Sunset Boulevard for our second Fastpass on Rock N’ Roller Coaster.

I love the costumed Stitch plush they have by the exit of Tower of Terror and Rock N’ Roller – I finally remembered to take a picture of AeroStitch:

We made our way back across the park over to Toy Story Land. The rain earlier in the day had cleared out a lot of people, so the park really wasn’t overly crowded. It was quite nice!

Our third and final Fastpass was for Slinky Dog (again!). We hadn’t been on it prior to this trip, and we weren’t aware of the VIP Tour when we made our initial Fastpass selections so we did not expect to ride this four times in three days – but here we were! We even lucked out and ended up with the very back row this time!

On our three previous times on Slinky Dog, I couldn’t figure out where the camera was. I finally looked at the camera this time – and then Mike Wazowski’d myself….

As we were exiting, the Green Army Men were hanging around – so of course we had to get pictures with them!

We wandered around a bit, and as we were walking past Toy Story Mania we noticed the sign saying it was only a 20 minute wait. Without hesitation, we entered the standby line – that ride is a must with a wait time that low! It was fairly accurate, although I think everyone in the park saw the low wait time on the MDE app and joined the queue line behind us (we lucked out by already being in Toy Story Land). I can’t remember why I felt the need to take a picture before entering our ride vehicle – but apparently we were in alien car haha.

Once again, I retained my title as the champion! My score isn’t that fantastic, but I do beat Luke at Toy Story Mania every single time – I’m just making up for the beat down I take every time we go on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (I don’t think I’ve ever beat Luke on that ride).

I love all the details in the exit of TSM. The barrel of monkeys are my favourite!

It was almost time for us to leave the park, but first we headed over to use the fourth Fastpass we had managed to grab for Star Tours.

At this point, it was time for us to leave the park – we had one final group event to attend for the weekend! As we were leaving, they had some of the Skyliner Gondolas uncovered and were testing them (this was prior to them opening). It was neat to see!

We found the bus for Fort Wilderness and set off – we were going to the 8:30 seating of Hoop dee Doo Musical Revue! You can read all about it here 🙂

After the show ended, we said our final goodbyes to Billie and Sarah who were able to bus straight to Wilderness Lodge from there. The rest of us loaded onto a bus to Magic Kingdom to catch buses back to our respective hotels. The drive wasn’t that long, but there were a lot of laughs! I was going to miss all of these ladies!

I didn’t get the memo from Lesley that we were supposed to look sad haha –

After hugs and pictures, we said our final goodbyes at the Magic Kingdom bus stops, and headed back to OKW for our final night at the hotel. We packed up, called bell services to arrange luggage transfer to our next hotel, then crashed for the night.

January 3, 2018 – Part Two

After enjoying all the holiday decor, we headed down the hallway and headed into Crew’s Cup Lounge. This was pretty high on Luke’s list of places to try, and it was fantastic! You can read all about it over here!

After filling our bellies, we left the Yacht Club and began walking back to Epcot. It was such a beautiful walk, and there weren’t that many people out and about due to the freezing cold temperatures.

We took a detour, and walked over to see Sea Breeze Point. We took some photos and posted them in our Facebook group we had created for our wedding – our friends and family were only days away from arriving and we wanted them to see the location where our ceremony would be held in exactly one week <3

After entering Epcot through the International Gateway, we stopped in Canada to watch the band. They were playing some Great Big Sea, and there was a group of kids having a great time dancing up by the stage – we sang along for a few minutes before continuing on to our destination.

Our destination – our third Fastpass selection of the day! It’s rare for us to make a Fastpass this late in the day, but we had scheduled it to coincide with meeting another couple – my first true DisMeet! We were meeting up with Meghan and Nathan at the Character Spot (Mickey, Minnie and Goofy). We found each other, and entered the Fastpass line. Since the line is inside, and it was such a cold day, it was busy. Even with a FP, it still took over half an hour before we met Mickey – which was fine! It allowed us time to chat and get to know each other better! Meghan and I had met on the Disboards, an online Disney forum – but we both came from the same small province, had both attended the same University (just a few years apart) and we both had our weddings through DFTW with the Escape package (which is something not even offered anymore). Conversation was easy, and before we knew it we were at the front of the line. For each character, we did a quick picture with all of us, then couple shots (no individual pictures since we didn’t want to be the ones holding up the line).

This next picture cracks me up – sorry Meghan for sharing it! We both look so awkward and unsure of what to do haha –

Before meeting Minnie, I apparently changed my hat?

Minnie had to see the ring after she saw Luke’s Happily Ever After button <3

We headed out and spent a few more minutes chatting before saying goodbye. All four of us were running the 5k the next day, but Meghan and Nathan were in a much earlier corral so we wouldn’t be able to run it together.

Luke and I probably should have left the park and went back to OWK to get a good night’s sleep before the 5K, but instead we closed down the park… We hit up Soarin’ with a Fastpass that Luke had grabbed while we were in line to meet Mickey, before stopping at Club Cool to sample some Coca-Cola products from around the world (RIP Club Cool!)

After scanning in for Soarin’, we managed to snag a fifth Fastpass for Spaceship Earth.

Luke and I love to make a crazy face for our picture on this ride haha –

I stopped by the exit for a picture with the Bubblegum wall, but it was a bit too dark so it didn’t turn out great.

We had a bit of time before the park closed, so Luke decided to buy the Epcot Starbucks mug tonight. I went in to Starbucks with him, but decided I’d run to the bathroom while he waited in line. As I was exiting, I was caught up in the beauty of Spaceship Earth at night, looking at the lights, and I ended up missing the last two steps on the stairs (facepalm). I didn’t fall down, but I definitely hurt something – impeccable timing the night before a runDisney event.

Once Luke had his mug, we made our way to the bus stop with me hobbling along. By the time we got back to our room, I was in a lot of pain, I felt like I had pulled a muscle so I took a hot shower and went straight to bed, just hoping for the best when the alarm went off in a few hours…
